About me

Well, it is like it is!

My artist name is Kay Vega, I am a singer/songwriter. In the summer of 2019 I recorded a 4-track EP of my own songs in Lost Hollow, Tennessee. The style is Americana / Blues / Rock’n’Roll / Country. As a Baltic Sea child, I grew up at the German/Danish border and after a lot of traveling and musical experiences I ended up in Nashville. A northern soul met southern spirit! The EP Northern Soul – Southern Spirit is the result of my collaboration with Nashville producers and musicians. Together with Tommy Harden / Lost Hollow (arranger, engineer and drummer on the „Oprah Winfrey Show“ and the band „Alabama“) I wrote the arrangements for my four songs.

Musicians: Michael Klooster (Smash Mouth), Jon Conley (guitarist with Kenny Chesney), Pat McGrath (master of acoustic instruments, guitarist with Dolly Parton and others) and Alison Prestwood (voted best bass player in Nashville for ten years). The EP was produced by Ray Amico (former tour manager of Devo, recording studio owner in Nashville). The vocals produced and engineered by Mike Schatzlein at TRC Studios. It was released on 01.26.2020 and is available for download on all the main music sites, the CD can be purchased through music@kayvega.com .

Once the recording was finished the musicians asked me if I would like to record a whole album with them. I told them that I am 60 years old and do not want to start a career as a stage artist, but they just said: „Why not?”

„They’re goddamn right!“ By the end of February 2020 I was back in Nashville to record a complete album with 12 new songs. These recordings were influenced by a tornado that swept through Nashville two days after my arrival. The album Outlaws and Heroes was produced by Tommy Harden and me and is scheduled for release in fall 2020. I am still looking for a home label for my album!

The whole story is even crazier: the series „Nashville“, a former tour manager of the Rolling Stones, a cowboy named Luke and two dogs from Tennessee called „Strudel“ and „Schnitzel“ are involved.

By the way, my real name is Kay Petersen. I have been living in Kreuzberg, Berlin for 40 years. I would be happy if the EP and album were heard by more people.

Give Nashville/Kreuzberg a chance!
